Candy Review: Warheads Sour Caramel Apple Ooze Chewz

Candy Review:  Warheads Sour Caramel Apple Ooze Chewz

Ropes.  Ropes are big.
Big things with the kids, ropes.
There are allll kinds of ropes.  Nerds ropes.  SweeTarts Ropes.
These are Warheads ropes.
FILLED Warheads ropes.
Caramel Apple Filled Warheads ropes.
Sour Caramel Apple Filled Ropes from Warheads.

Frankly, I'm not big on eating 'ropes.'  I'm not generally a 'rope'-buyer.
BUT these are Caramel Apple.  SOUR Caramel Apple.
And I'm allllll about Caramel Apple.
So here we are.

I believe these debuted LAST year (2025) however, as I've mentioned in the past, if it's new to me it's a new Halloween candy.

Measuring about 5" long, each rope is a bright green with a gooey ("Oozey"?) brown center.
And, to be clear, when I say 'oozey' I don't mean they actually ooze.  They don't drip, squirt, or squish out of their rope-casing (oof--- never say 'rope casing' again...).
What I mean is, if the exterior is a gummy candy, then the interior is like a solid paste.  Caramel paste.
Delicious delicious caramel paste.

Photo:  Rope, no ooze.

The exterior of each green rope is dusted with a fine sour powder (less grit than a Sour Patch Kid if I know my sour grit grades).  Said another way:  if you were sanding a 2x4, you'd finish with one of these ropes, not start.
To be noted:  the exterior sour powder is ONLY on the top/front of the rope, not on the back (see the pic below--- 4 face up, 4 face down).

Honestly, I did not find them very sour.  And that's not a bad thing.
I was prepared!
Because these fall under the Warheads banner, I was READY for SOUR.
I don't know if you've ever had an original Warheads hard candy but they are SOUR.
Like, involuntary face puckering "oh dear I've made a horrible mistake with my life--SOUR!"-sour.
But these are not that.
In fact I would put them at an equal or slightly milder Sour Patch Kids level of sour.

The exterior green rope is the apple flavor, and the brown center is the caramel flavor.
As an aforementioned Caramel Apple fan, I really like these.  I found them to be a delicious Caramel Apple sour candy worthy of the Caramel Apple moniker.

My only critiques are in the spirit of improving them:

1). I wanted to eat more of them (there's only about 8 ropes per 3 oz. bag).

2). I would gladly buy these in a resealable zip pouch package if they were bite-sized and had way more of them in the bag.

3). Though these are released around the Halloween season, there is absolutely NO Halloween or Autumn ANYTHING on the bags.
Front or back.

It seems like a real lost opportunity and the existing graphics lean into the gooey/ooze but I found these to be very clean and NOT oozey.

Dear Warheads,

Lose the ooze and up the 'ween (Halloween).

Signed,
Your Friendly Neighborhood Halloween Thing
